Khuti Pujo of Garcha Hazra Durgotsav with Theme Gond-O-Gol

Khuti Pujo of Garcha Hazra Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee was held at Yakub Park with great fanfare on 17th August. A host of dignitaries from various walk of the society like legendary actress Madhabi Mukherjee, Sarod Baba (President’s award winner), Rajshekhar Banik (social entrepreneur), RJ Pragya, Indrani Ganguly (eminent choreographer), local councilors, Saurav Bose, Soumitra Dey, Ananda Das, Gopal Dey & all others were present.

Established in 1931, Garcha Hazra Sarbojanin Durga Puja is now in its 88th year. This year’s theme is “Garcha-e Gond-O-Gol”, a fusion of Madhya Pradesh traditional art and that of Bangaliana. The concept & execution is by talented artist Rajeev Das and creative direction is by filmmaker Asish Basak. The Theme and Event Associate of this year’s Puja is ‘Hello Kolkata’.

Rajeev Das, conceptualiser and executor of the theme explained the actual meaning of “Garcha-e Gond-O-Gol”. Asish Basak, creative director of the theme team, remarked that it is a measure of immense satisfaction that this popular traditional Puja has veered towards a theme after 87 years and hoped that their nascent association with ‘Hello Kolkata’ will uplift the Puja to new heights.
