Remembering Hiralal Sen

While 100 years of Bengali cinema is being celebrated all across the state with much grandeur, the man behind Indian cinema still remains anonymous or less celebrated. In order to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Hiralal Sen, the less known Father of Indian Cinema, Acharya Dinesh Chandra Sen Research Society organized Hiralal Sen Sammanana 2019 at Sarat Chatterjee Residence’ Hall recently.

In the presence of Pradip Baral, Manik Chowdhury, Ujjwal Biswas, Dr. Arup Mitra, and other dignitaries, the awards were handed over to directors Francis Roy, Arun Roy, and Arnab Roy. A scintillating song by Sukanya Sarkar and a wonderful stage act by Dhiru Banerjee and Shiuli Gomes Ramani enthralled the audiences. Members of the society expressed their gratitude to Secretary Debkanya Sen for organizing such a beautiful event.
